Compulsive Hoarding is serious mental disorder affecting millions of Americans and their friends and families. Like eating disorders or alcoholism, hoarding afflicts the rich, the poor, the young the old, doctors, stay at home moms, computer nerds. It does not discriminate. This groundbreaking documentary series provides a fascinating look into the lives of these people whose inability to part with their belongings is so out of control that they are on the verge of a personal crisis. Whether they're facing eviction, the loss of their children, jail time, or divorce, they are all in desperate need of help. Each 60 minute episode captures the drama as mental health and organizational experts work to put each hoarder on the road to recovery. For some, throwing away even the tiniest thing -- a button, an empty box -- is so painful they will not be able to complete the cleaning, no matter the consequences. Those chosen to appear in the series will be provided with a variety of professional services which may include, but not limited to mental health support, professional organizers, and professional cleanup and/or junk removal services. They can also choose to participate in "after-care" to supplement the help provided on the show. This can include on-going counseling and/or professional organizing. Each case will be considered on an individual basis and services will be tailored to fit the individual's needs.
